In recent years, the school has received major refurbishments and modernisations whilst still retaining its character and history (it is a Grade II listed building) meaning students have modern facilities to support them in their learning as well as a historic setting for their education. With a supportive Headteacher who believes in the potential of each individual student, she has said ‘examination results are excellent but/ students leave with more than a set of qualifications’ as they ‘teach students to become articulate, strong and confident individuals’ who ‘value knowledge and education and to understand how to use it to better themselves, their community and society as a whole.’
The successful History Trainee Teacher will be a passionate individual with a good academic record in their subject (a 2.2 or above in a relevant undergraduate degree is necessary in addition to GCSE C or above in English and Maths) and a desire to start teaching students sooner rather than later. Experience in the classroom is not necessary but any experience working or volunteering with learners previously is a positive addition to your application.
As well as offering the chance to train with a good school in a central part of London, the school is located in the vibrant borough of Hackney which has been shaped by successions of newcomers through the ages.
