Design Technology Trainee Teacher

An engineering-focused school in the London borough of Hillingdon is looking for a Design Technology Trainee Teacher to join their successful team and secure Qualified Teacher Status with their support. This is a long-term-to-permanent appointment to commence in January 2021, although an earlier or possibly later start could be arranged for the right Engineering Trainee Teacher.

-Design Technology Trainee Teacher role – QTS Awarded

-London borough of Hillingdon

-Completely fee-free programme

-January 2021 start

-London weighting – Salary upwards of £21,004

The school has begun to see progress with a change in leadership. The aim for the school as a community is to ‘transform lives through learning’ by developing skills that allow the students to succeed in the world of work and further education. This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Technology or Engineering graduate looking to work in a developing North-West London school. Although not an exceptionally high-achieving school, it is part of a multi-academy trust, meaning support from various outlets and the option for employment at various locations in future exists.

With this school, you’ll be able to work with students who have keen interest in engineering while studying GCSEs, A Levels and getting invaluable practical skills from the best in the industry. This is because this particular school has the support of local, high profile industry and academic partners who help to shape the curriculum and work closely with the students.

The successful Design Technology Trainee Teacher will be based in a hard-working department which welcomes innovation and new ideas. As a trainee working towards QTS, you will have your own timetabled classes in which you yourself will take on the responsibility of teaching and supporting your own cohort of learners. This will include teaching Design technology across various year groups. If you are someone who likes a challenge and working with learners that have an interest in this subject, helping them to achieve that light-bulb moment, then this could be the right school for you.

In order to apply for this role, you will need to meet a few minimum requirements, without exception, including:

-Bachelor of Honours in Design Technology or Engineering (2.2 or above is expected for this position)

-GCSE C or above in English and Maths; preferably an A-Level in DT or previous studies in engineering

-A passion for Design Technology or Engineering and confident abilities in presenting/teaching/tuition

-Right-to-work in the UK full-time

-Experience working with students in some capacity is not required but is preferred

Whether you’re a newly-graduated individual looking for an excellent programme to secure your QTS or an experienced school worker looking to do more with your degree and progress in your career – apply now!
